Locum Tenens Orthopedic Trauma Physician Assistant – Neptune City, NJ

HPA Healthcare is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant with Orthopedic Trauma experience for a 24-week locum tenens assignment in Neptune City, New Jersey.

Assignment Highlights

• Duration: 24 weeks

• Schedule: Monday–Friday

• Hours: 6:30 AM–2:30 PM

• Approximately 40 hours per week

• No call

• No weekends

• No holiday coverage

• Inpatient Orthopedic Trauma coverage

• Daily pre-op and post-op rounding

• Assist with orthopedic trauma consultations

• Floor coverage and discharge management

• Intermittent splinting support

• Work alongside another APP each day

• Prior locums experience not required

• Pay Ranking: Top 10% target compensation

• Estimated Weekly Pay: Approximately $6,000/week

• Estimated Daily Pay: Approximately $1,200/day

Position Overview

The Physician Assistant will provide inpatient coverage for an Orthopedic Trauma service, focusing on daily rounds, floor management, preoperative and postoperative patient care, consultations, and discharge coordination.

The locum PA will work alongside another APP each day, providing a collaborative coverage model and consistent clinical support.

This position is particularly attractive for an experienced orthopedic PA seeking a predictable weekday assignment without call, weekend, or holiday responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Round on inpatient pre-op and post-op orthopedic trauma patients

• Provide daily floor coverage

• Assist with orthopedic trauma consultations

• Coordinate and complete patient discharges

• Assist with patient assessment and follow-up

• Provide intermittent splinting support

• Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, APPs, nurses, and other clinical staff

• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation

Requirements

• Certified Physician Assistant

• Orthopedic or Orthopedic Trauma experience strongly preferred

• Inpatient experience preferred

• Comfortable managing pre-op and post-op orthopedic patients

• Current DEA

• Current CDS

• Must meet applicable New Jersey licensing and facility credentialing requirements

• Prior locum tenens experience is not required
