Emergency Medicine Locum Tenens Physician

Position Overview

HPA Healthcare is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine physician for a locum tenens opportunity at a critical access hospital and Level IV Trauma Center in Jamestown, North Dakota.

This assignment offers the opportunity to provide essential emergency medical care in a rural community while working in a setting that emphasizes independent clinical judgment, advanced procedural skills and high-quality patient care.

The physician will provide single-physician emergency department coverage, managing a wide range of adult and pediatric medical emergencies, traumatic injuries and critical care presentations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive Emergency Medicine experience, strong procedural competency, Epic proficiency and a background in rural or critical access emergency departments.

Emergency Medicine board-certified physicians are preferred. Family Medicine physicians with substantial emergency department experience will also be considered.

Assignment Highlights

• Pay Ranking: Competitive compensation; details available upon inquiry.

• Start Date: November 3, 2026.

• Assignment End Date: February 1, 2027.

• Duration: 13 weeks.

• Schedule: Primarily 12-hour night shifts, 6:00 PM-6:00 AM.

• Coverage: Approximately four shifts monthly on average, with consecutive-shift blocks available.

• Call: None.

• Practice Setting: Critical Access Hospital / Level IV Trauma Center.

• Annual ED Volume: Approximately 11,000-12,000 patient visits.

• Admission Rate: Approximately 8%.

• Staffing: Independent physician coverage without APP support.

• Specialty Support: OB, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Radiology and Pediatrics.

• Additional Resources: In-house Respiratory Therapy, on-site helipad and physician sleep room.

• EMR: Epic.

• Travel Support: Lodging and mileage covered by the client; airfare not covered.

• Credentialing: Emergency privileges may be available for physicians with clean credentialing files.

• Orientation: Arrive one day before the first scheduled shift.
