Pediatric Physician – North Carolina | 24-Hour Call Coverage

HPA Healthcare is seeking a Board-Certified Pediatric Physician for eight 24-hour call shifts in eastern North Carolina during October 2026.

This is a low-volume hospital-based pediatric assignment providing pediatric inpatient and newborn nursery coverage.

Assignment

Coverage: 24-hour pediatric call
Total Coverage: 8 shifts

The physician can expect approximately one pediatric admission and one newborn per day.

Responsibilities include pediatric admissions and inpatient care, newborn nursery coverage, and attendance at C-sections when requested by the OB provider.

There are no ICU/critical care responsibilities, no ER backup requirements, and no general code responsibilities outside of the nursery.

 

Assignment Highlights

• 8 total 24-hour call shifts
• All coverage runs 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
• Approximately 1 pediatric admission per day
• Approximately 1 newborn per day
• Pediatric inpatient and newborn nursery coverage
• C-section attendance when requested by the OB provider
• No ICU or critical care responsibilities
• No ER backup coverage
• No general code response unless the code occurs in the nursery
• Epic EMR
• Board Certification in Pediatrics required
• BLS and PALS required
• Orientation/EHR training prior to first shift
