Position Overview 

HPA Healthcare is seeking a Board-Certified Surgical Critical Care / Trauma Surgeon for a high-acuity locum tenens opportunity in Massachusetts.

This is a major academic Level I Trauma Center with substantial resident and APP support and a need extending from December through at least March.

Pay Ranking: Top 5% Nationally

Weekday Clinical Pay: $325/hour

Weeknight Call: $2,400/shift

Weekend 24-Hour Call: $6,200/shift

Assignment Highlights

• Pay Ranking: Top 5% nationally
• Coverage: December 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027
• 17-week initial assignment
• 3+ months of coverage
• Weekday clinical: $325/hour
• Weeknight call: $2,400 flat
• Weekend 24-hour call: $6,200 flat
• Weekday clinical hours: 0700–1600
• Weeknight call: 1600–0700
• Weekend coverage: 24-hour flat-rate call
• Level I Trauma Center
• Approximately 30–50 trauma inpatients
• Approximately 10–20 trauma activations per 24 hours
• Approximately 90–95% blunt trauma
• Emergency General Surgery coverage may be included
• Up to approximately 8 EGS consults per call
• Up to approximately 3 emergency operative cases
• 2 attending physicians covering daytime service
• Day and night APP coverage
• Resident and intern support
• Epic EMR
• Travel paid
• Active Massachusetts license required
• Surgical Critical Care fellowship required
• DEA and Massachusetts CSR required
