Position Overview

HPA Healthcare is seeking a Board-Certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Hospitalist for five consecutive nights of locum tenens coverage in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

The physician will provide 7:00 PM–7:00 AM inpatient coverage from 12/25/2026 through 12/29/2026, including overnight admissions and management of hospitalized and critically ill patients.

• ICU/Critical Care responsibilities
• Critical Care and Tele-ICU support
• Tele-Neurology support
• Procedures optional
• Epic EMR
• Board-Certified FM or IM
• AHA ACLS required
• Orientation before first shift

Clinical Responsibilities

The physician will manage overnight Hospital Medicine coverage, including admissions, inpatient management, consultations, critically ill patients and appropriate handoff to the daytime team.

The physician should be comfortable with ICU-level patients. Experience managing ventilated patients is preferred. Procedures are optional.

Specialty resources include Cardiology, Orthopedics, Nephrology, General Surgery, Urology, Infectious Disease and Psychiatry, along with telemedicine support for ICU and neurological cases.

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Hospitalist/inpatient experience
• AHA ACLS
• ICU/Critical Care competency
• Epic experience preferred
• Ventilator-management experience preferred
• Availability for the requested holiday coverage
