Anesthesiology Locum Tenens Physician

Position Overview

HPA Healthcare is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Anesthesiologist for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

The assignment begins November 16, 2026, with an initial 13-week commitment and the potential for ongoing coverage.

The physician will provide approximately 40 hours of coverage per week through a combination of scheduled daytime anesthesia coverage and rotating call. The schedule will vary from week to week, with the physician expected to participate in both standard daytime schedules and weeks incorporating 24-hour coverage.

• No pediatrics
• Approximately 10 patients/day
• 76-bed acute care hospital
• 4 operating rooms
• Labor & Delivery and Cath Lab
• CRNA and anesthesia technician support
• Epic EMR
• Temporary privileges may be available for clean files
• Approximately 90-day credentialing timeframe

Responsibilities

The locum anesthesiologist will provide comprehensive anesthesia services for adult surgical patients, including pre-anesthesia assessment, anesthesia planning, intraoperative management, post-anesthesia care, general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and participation in rotating call coverage.

The physician will collaborate with CRNAs, anesthesia technicians, surgeons, nurses, and other members of the perioperative team.

Candidates should have strong regional anesthesia skills and be proficient performing blocks for orthopedic cases.

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
• Active Pennsylvania medical license
• Active DEA
• ACLS
• Minimum 1 year of experience
• Proficiency with regional and orthopedic blocks
• Comfortable working in a collaborative anesthesia care environment
• Ability to participate in rotating call coverage
• Availability for approximately 40 hours/week
