Cardiothoracic Surgery Locum Tenens Physician Assistant

HPA Healthcare is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for an ongoing locum tenens assignment in Tyler, Texas.

This is a high-acuity inpatient role supporting cardiothoracic surgery patients in a Level I Trauma Center. The PA will round in the ICU and manage patients before and after cardiac and thoracic surgery, including patients immediately following open-heart, VATS, and lung procedures.

The provider will also care for patients coming off mechanical ventilation. The service averages approximately 10–15 patients at a time. OR experience, particularly vein harvesting experience, is strongly preferred.

Assignment Highlights

• ASAP start with ongoing 2026 coverage
• 12-hour shifts
• Day: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Night: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Coverage needs exist 7 days per week
• Inpatient cardiothoracic surgery and ICU setting
• Approximately 10–15 patients
• Assigned-patient rounding
• Admissions required
• No call requirement
• Epic EMR
• Level I Trauma Center
• Multiple providers may be accepted
• Temporary privileges are available
• Estimated credentialing time: 5–7 days
