General Surgery Locum Tenens Physician

HPA Healthcare is seeking General Surgeons for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in Anderson, Indiana.

The facility needs two physicians to provide weekend General Surgery call coverage beginning 01/01/2027. Coverage is available every weekend or every other weekend and runs from Thursday at 7:00 PM through Monday at 7:00 AM.

• Approximately $8,750+ for a complete Thursday-Monday coverage block
• $1,250 Thursday night call
• $2,500 per full 24-hour call period
• $400/hour callback after applicable gratis period
• 84-hour total weekend coverage block
• Every weekend or every other weekend

• Call-only assignment
• Beeper call
• 30-minute response time
• Approximately 8 patients
• Approximately 3 phone consults
• Hospitalists handle admissions
• Epic
• Level III Trauma
• Indiana license required
• BLS required
• Approximately 60-day credentialing
• Lodging available within facility guidelines

Compensation Structure

The Thursday evening start is paid coverage.

A complete Thursday-Monday block is estimated at approximately $8,750, structured as:

Thursday 7 PM-Friday 7 AM: $1,250
Friday 7 AM-Saturday 7 AM: $2,500
Saturday 7 AM-Sunday 7 AM: $2,500
Sunday 7 AM-Monday 7 AM: $2,500

Additional callback compensation may increase total earnings.

Responsibilities

The General Surgeon will provide inpatient General Surgery and Trauma call coverage, rounding and urgent/emergent surgical care. Candidates must be able to respond to the facility within 30 minutes when required.

Requirements

• MD/DO General Surgeon
• Board Certified preferred
• Active Indiana license
• BLS
• General Surgery experience
• Trauma experience
• Ability to meet 30-minute call response requirement
